Wow. That's huge.

But really, what's the deal with firing Shula? That was so weak.

Can't say I blame him. I'd do about anything to get out of Morgantown. How they get any good football recruits to come there is beyond me. I've been there and it's a horrible place. Big hole in the ground.

Rich Rod went off on some guy on WV Metro News today, but I think it's all a big act. The money will be too much to pass up. Not only that, but how long can WVU stay where it's at?

I can't believe the "Old Ball Coach" turned down the job. They offered him 6 mill a year and the AD job after he's done coaching. No surprise RR is denying it, they always do until they make the deal official.

WV is not a powerhouse program. RR is a good coach who has players that fit the system he runs.

I don't think RR is going anywhere. He's a WVU grad and I don't think he has any ties to Alabama. The way this rumor mill goes is like this. Coach A gets mentioned, Coach A denies it, so the media goes to Coach B, Coach B denies it, so goes to Coach C, Coach C denies it and in the end Coach A gets hired after the end of the season. I don't think RR would be their first choice. I think it will be Spurrier.

Anything that makes WVU worse or brings them back to where they were, I am down for...

Bama is certainly a step up, but as was mentioned RR is a WVU grad. Bama certainly isn't the most inviting place in general and even more so to 'outsiders'. I wouldn't be surprised either way. Career wise it's good for him to move on. Personal comfort level may sway him in another direction.

I wouldn't think he would want the Bama job because he'll always have to live up to the legend of Bear Bryant, just like every other coach that has followed Bear Bryant.

RR has said several times that he's not happy with the field and equipment at WV. The AD there doesn't seem to won't to make any upgrades so Bama would definatley be a major step up in equipment and tradition. If he can recruit at WV just imagine the kind of talent he could get at Bama.

If he goes to Bama...give him a couple years and we could see Bama in contention for a NC.

This is the first I've heard of this. They've got a huge practice facility, a weight room, and football center that cannot be more than a few years old. I'd be shocked if he thought they had bad facilities at WVU.

First I've heard this also. I will go check it out. I don't know why, but for some reason wvu fans have grown to be a pain in the a$$ from my view. I can't stand them. They are almost as annoying as penn state fans.

I used to live in WV. It's more of a Napoleon complex.
They really want to be one of the BIG boys. This is why they pick on Marshall so much.

Coaches will always deny when asked by the press. There is no possible good answer to the question.

Do you still beat your wife?

Same type of question.

how is Bama a step up? WVU has lost two games in the last two seasons. Bama lost six games THIS YEAR. WVU is in a FAR better position to win RIGHT NOW than Bama... the Bama job is overated.

Bama is a step up if he is looking for $$$$$$$$ they will pay big as far as an elite job, no that died with Bear except for a couple years plus he will be on probation after the boosters get involved like they do every coach., To beat Auburn every year (won't happen like when Bear was there) and out-recruit Auburn every year (won't happen) it's a tough place to go. On the other hand its perfect for a someone like Boise St coach, Fresno St. etc...
